Why do carers use Respite?

A lady takes a few days off each year by herself to recharge her batteries knowing the person she cares for is well looked after at home.

A lady and her husband (who she cares for) are able to attend their daughter’s wedding with help on the day by a respite worker.

A young lad attends his first camp knowing that someone will be helping his Mum when she needs it and giving her some company.

An elderly gentleman attends the Men’s Shed with assistance from a respite worker (he thinks he is just the bloke who picks him up – and so he is, he just keeps an eye on him as well) giving his wife the break she needs.

A gentleman wishing to continue in his chosen sport has a respite worker come each Saturday over summer to stay with his wife.

A couple working in their own business is able to do so without guilt or interruption as their mother attends a whole day activity.
