When you make contact with Carers and Disability Link, a Carer Support Worker will confirm a time that is convenient for you to meet with them. This can be at our office, in your home or even in a local café if that is easier for you.
At your first meeting, the support workers priority is to listen to your story, and they will take the time to develop a sense of how you are feeling about your caring role, and what supports would be helpful to you.
If you decide that you would like to become part of the Carer and Disability Link community and become involved in the Carer activities which the support worker will discuss with you, then some paperwork needs to be completed for this to happen.
The information required is for the sole purpose of supporting you as a Carer.
It’s helpful to have information available such as names, addresses and emergency contacts; however it’s not essential to have all this at the first meeting as we would rather spend the time getting to know you.
